Google Flow watermark in India, South Korea and Vietnam

Since August 2026 most Google Flow users can switch the visible watermark off for new videos, but the switch is not offered for video in India, South Korea and Vietnam, where rules require a visible mark on AI-generated media. Videos made there keep the Gemini diamond in the bottom-right corner. If you have the original 720p or 1080p MP4 from Flow, you can remove the diamond in your browser: the file is not uploaded, and the invisible SynthID watermark stays in the video.

Why there is no watermark switch in these three countries

In August 2026 Google added a visible watermark setting to Flow and the Gemini app (Media watermark). It is not offered in countries whose rules require a visible mark on AI media. For video, Google names India, South Korea and Vietnam. Reports say only Google AI Ultra subscribers there can change it; on other accounts the setting is missing or cannot be switched off.

Elsewhere, the switch only affects videos created after it is turned off. Clips that were already downloaded keep the diamond in every country, because the mark is part of the pixels of the file. See how the setting works.

Remove the diamond from a clip you already exported

  1. In Google Flow, download the clip as MP4 at 720p or 1080p. Use that original file. Copies sent through chat or social apps are often resized, which moves the mark.
  2. On a computer, open Flow Watermark Remover in recent Chrome or Edge.
  3. Drop the MP4 into the box. A free compatibility check reads a few frames, confirms the Flow size (1920×1080, 1080×1920, 1280×720 or 720×1280) and tells you whether the diamond was found.
  4. Press Remove watermark. Every frame is cleaned in your browser with WebCodecs, and the original audio track is kept.
  5. Download the clean MP4. Two videos a day are free without an account; Pro ($4.99 a month or $29.99 a year) removes the daily limit.

How it works, and why it does not blur the corner

The Gemini diamond is a fixed, semi-transparent logo blended onto the picture. Because the blend is known, each marked pixel can be calculated back with reverse alpha blending: original = (shown − opacity × 255) / (1 − opacity). The video is read with mp4box.js, decoded and re-encoded with WebCodecs, all inside the page.

Nothing is uploaded: you can check it in the Network tab, and the engine code is public on GitHub under the MIT licence. You can also see before and after examples on moving video.

Honest limits

  • SynthID stays. Google can still identify the clip as made with its AI, and no tool can honestly claim otherwise.
  • Local labelling rules still apply to you. Removing the visible diamond does not change what your country requires when you publish AI-generated video; add your own label where it is required.
  • Only process videos you made or have permission to edit.
  • Only original Flow MP4 exports at 720p and 1080p are supported. The older "Veo" text watermark, 4K upscales and edited copies are not.
  • At 1080p the corner is clean at normal size; on dark, flat corners a faint outline can show at 2–3× zoom.

Questions

Why can I not turn off the Google Flow watermark in South Korea? Google does not offer the visible watermark switch for video in countries whose rules require a visible mark on AI media, and it names South Korea, India and Vietnam. Reports say only Google AI Ultra subscribers there can change it.

Is the Flow watermark switch available in Vietnam or India? Not for video on most accounts. The switch Google added in August 2026 is not offered for video in Vietnam, India and South Korea.

Can I remove the watermark from a Flow video made in Korea or Vietnam? Yes, if you have the original MP4 downloaded from Flow at 720p or 1080p. Drop it into the remover; it reverses the overlay in your browser and keeps the resolution, frame rate and audio.

Is my video uploaded? No. The video is decoded, cleaned and encoded in your browser. The server only counts your free videos. How to check.

Does removing the visible watermark remove SynthID? No. SynthID is invisible and stays in the video, so it can still be identified as AI-generated.

How much does it cost? Two videos a day are free with no account. Pro is $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year for unlimited videos.
